Who we are

About the Sanctuary

Hay Monsters Rabbit Sanctuary was founded in January of 2020. Both owners, Julia and Brian, plus our third founding officer, Tori, all have years of rabbit rescue experience. We all strive to live cruelty free lifestyles, acknowledging that all types of animals are the victims of speciesism, but have the belief that domestic breed rabbits, by far, have it worst. Of course, we know rabbits are used for fur, meat and scientific/medical/cosmetic testing, but also, rabbits are the third most popular pet in America, and are abandoned, abused and neglected by pet owners as often as cats and dogs.

We currently operate as a foster-based rescue and sanctuary.

The mission of HMRS is to rescue and rehabilitate abandoned, sick, injured or neglected rabbits and to educate the community on proper care and the importance of spay/neutering.  We work closely with other local rescues and adoption partners so that when an adoptable bunny is ready to go they find a home as quickly as possible.

Any rabbit deemed unfit for adoption will remain a sanctuary resident and live with a forever foster
